Record Engagement Marks the Third Digital Transformation Summit

8 December 2025 at 8:22:37 am

The third Digital Transformation Summit achieved a major milestone for Papua New Guinea’s digital agenda, recording unprecedented participation of nearly 1,100 attendees. This figure more than doubles last year’s turnout, reflecting rapidly expanding national interest in digital transformation. Among the participants were 300 digital transformation offices (DTOs) representing all levels of government, from national to district, alongside CEOs, CTOs, and senior executives from public agencies, startups, and technology vendors. The event also drew a strong international contingent, with representation from Dubai, Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, and global technology giants including AWS, Oracle, Google, Salesforce, and Wheelsoft.

To accommodate the scale and diversity of discussions, the summit extended over four days, departing from its traditional three-day format. Multiple breakout rooms hosted concurrent sessions, enabling focused dialogue, cross-sector collaboration, and co-creation of policy solutions. Live streaming through the National Broadcasting Corporation amplified the event’s reach, ensuring inclusive access for participants across the country and broadening national engagement with digital initiatives.

High-level government presence underscored the summit’s strategic importance. Opening remarks delivered by the Prime Minister and the Minister for Information and Communications Technologyframed the summit within the country’s broader development priorities. Their contributions—supported by departmental heads, diplomatic representatives, and parliamentary media leaders—signaled strong political backing and reinforced confidence among industry partners.

International and industry partnerships remained central to the summit’s agenda. Engagement withleading global technology companies facilitated knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and potentialpathways for investment. These collaborations further positioned Papua New Guinea within regional andglobal digital innovation networks.

A comprehensive communication and outreach strategy strengthened the summit’s visibility. Socialmedia, radio, television, and online broadcast channels enabled remote participation and heightenedpublic awareness of the nation’s digital transformation efforts.
