Papua New Guinea’s Digital Transformation Summit 2025 reached a pivotal moment with the unveiling of three landmark reforms under the Digital Government Act 2022, designed to strengthen the nation’s digital public infrastructure and deliver citizen-centered services. The Showcase Segment, led by Secretary Steven Matainaho of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and Secretary Taies Sansan of the Department of Personnel Management (DPM), demonstrated how technology is reshaping governance and service delivery in PNG.

Opening the session, Secretary Matainaho presented a video demonstration and overview of SevisPass and SevisDEx. SevisPass, PNG’s new national digital ID platform, provides secure authentication and seamless access to government services, laying the foundation for trusted digital interactions between citizens and the state. Complementing this, SevisDEx enables secure data exchange across government systems, ensuring interoperability and transparency. Matainaho emphasized that these platforms are not just technological upgrades but critical building blocks for a modern, unified digital government architecture that places citizens at the center of service delivery.

Following this, Secretary Sansan introduced the E-Recruitment System, a collaborative reform between DICT and DPM. Through a video presentation and her remarks, she outlined how the system will digitize and modernize public service recruitment, making the process more transparent, efficient, and accessible. By streamlining human resource management, the E-Recruitment System reduces administrative burdens, speeds up hiring, and ensures fairer opportunities for applicants. Sansan highlighted that this reform represents a major step toward building a professional, accountable, and digitally empowered public service.

Together, the demonstrations of SevisPass, SevisDEx, and E-Recruitment marked a significant milestone in PNG’s digital transformation journey. They showcased the government’s commitment to implementing the Digital Government Act 2022 as a framework for efficiency, transparency, and inclusivity. By investing in secure digital identity, trusted data exchange, and modernized recruitment, Papua New Guinea is laying the groundwork for a future where citizens can access services seamlessly, trust in government systems, and benefit from a more responsive public sector.
